I'm still trying to figure out what the fuck all these items do, let alone the whole "let's pretend we're an MMO" trading/crafting thing. Why'd they have to take a good game and add a bunch of dumb crap to it?

What would you even add to the classes in the next round of updates, anyway? Seems to me they've got all they could want right now, and things like the targe and eyelander are a result of trying to drum up items for a class that didn't really need new stuff in the first place (though Soldier was the same way and they did great with the Soldier items.)

meh, I'm fine with all the changes, though I think a vanilla mode would be nice for comp players I've always thought that. With all these new items and stuff, the game is still the best FPS out there; and if you let go your love of the old days when there were only stock weapons, it's sort of fun to come up with loadouts that counter a loadout some enemy/enemies are running. I'm liking TF2 more than ever unfortunately it doesn't look like much life is left on TPG server.

Agreed. It really keeps the game fresh and surprisingly still balanced for the amount of crap thats in the game. For every loadout, theres at least one other class/loadout that can counter it. Now a whole team of heavy medics, is a different story...
