(I would hope you were a genus sMOKe, and a species. )
Lol, all good points. I say pick two different classes that fit your play style and play the crap out of them (although spy is probably the hardest to learn fresh outta the gate). You need several because a team over loaded in a class usually isnt very successful and it can get you kicked from the server if you refuse to listen to admins. Learn the layout of popular maps, some can be kinda confusing at first.
Also, learn about the different weapons for your picked classes. The OG loadout is still the most useful is most situations so dont fret.
Finally, just like any game, playing = learning. It just takes time. You look at how many hours some of the really good players have put in and you will see why they are worth listening too.

Re: Just bought TF2 New player tips?
The basic class to play for new players is soldier. Hes one of the most versatile in movement, and general damage output. If you need something done a really good soldier can make it happen. If you want to be really helpful play medic. You dont get all the kills but teams dont win without medics. Just remember stay behind your target, and usualy whoever your healing wont blindly rush around a corner so hang back a bit, if theres crap around the corner and he dies atleast you survived.
Demos dish out a TON of damage with stickies, if you want to play demo find inventive spots to place them, if its a low ceiling try there, walls, bushes, and corners are your friend. If they cant see your trap early there is very little they can do to it. Good demos can use the main weapon, its pretty difficult to hit people with the pills but they do a ton of damage no matter the range (If you turn on the damage marker thing you will see most weapons of dropoff in damage). Each class is easy to be acceptable in, but being really good takes work Stick with it, TF2 is a blast when you have good teams and good teamwork.

And some tips you'll learn really quick if you pick soldier:
1) Aim at their feet when using rockets. If you can't easily aim at their feet (they're above you, for example), use the shotgun.
2) If you have to reload and you're not out of danger, use the shotgun as you retreat.
3) Never shoot a rocket at a pyro that's looking at you. Again, use the shotgun.
TLDR: Don't forget you have a shotgun!
