Thread: Autoswitch for team balance on the TF2 server

Is this a function of LoneStar or does the game engine set this up?

I ask because it doesn't appear to be random, in the least.

Every (and I mean EVERY) time that the teams are auto-balanced because of numbers (11 on 8 or some other lop-sided team member count) and Special_K is online, he gets auto switched.

Its almost funny because it's so predictable.

[["Teams will be auto-balanced in 5 seconds]]

"Later Special!"

[Player Special_K_33 has been moved to the other team for balance.]

We were talking about it last night and we were wondering if it has to do with Steam ID or something...

Regardless, I know that a random event can repeat an outcome over and over, but this is like rolling a 20-sided die and getting 20 like, 10 times in a row...probably more...

Can somebody look into this?

Cool, I sort of suspected it was a Steam/TF2 issue - it's just too weird!

i usually cringe when i see that autobalance thing. the only time i ever get autobalanced seems to be after i deal a critical blow to the enemy team. Im so proud of myself because I have prolonged the chances of the opposing team from winning... but oh wait, now im on the team that just got screwed over by me

After perusing the Steampowered forums, I found this:

As far as I can tell, auto-balance works like this:

1. Game detects teams are uneven, announces autobalance in 10 seconds.
2. 10 seconds pass, autobalance randomly picks a dead person to be moved.
3. If no person is dead, it waits for someone to die and switches them.

Which is what I thought was the case as well, after noticing that it only switched the dead.

Then that makes it official - Special_K has the worst luck, EVER.
