L4D difficulty and mode changing
Noticed that, even if you change the map to a non-versus map.....it's fucked up. Is there a way to change the "mode" of the game on the fly? without it being in co-op mode, it's not possible to call for a difficulty vote, and thus not possible to earn badges/accomplishments based on difficulty.
Only way I've been able to get the server to change from vs to coop mode is to switch it to a non-vs map, then vote everyone into the lobby/disconnect, then reconnect. Pain in the ass.

Re: L4D difficulty and mode changing
That's also the only way I've found to "reset" it so far.
The Technical details:
If a server is empty and you join it, right before you join you on-the-fly make a new lobby that mirrors whatever the server settings were when you joined (so if the current map was coop, it on-the-fly makes a coop lobby). So after this point the game server obeys your lobby. If it was a coop lobby, then it will restrict the maxplayers to 4 even if your on a versus map. If it was a versus lobby, then it will force the difficulty to be "Normal" even if you switch to coop maps.
By leaving the server you kill your on-the-fly lobby, and the server has a chance to reset itself. When you rejoin you made a new lobby with the new server settings that were what you wanted in the first place.
So far I've found nothing that allows us in-game to change lobby settings (force difficulty change or change the "lobby max player count"). I'm still looking.

Re: L4D difficulty and mode changing
I some how missed this post, ive found a way to forcefully change mode, map, and the difficulty, but as ewok mentioned achievement status (and tracking) will only reset when the lobby is reset (forcefully doing so would still boot everyone i believe). Will look into further, might be a cvar im missing... :3
