If you want to test this yourself BH1 is a great place. Your footsteps/visible presence usually aggros a bunch of zombies but man if you walk though those woods with your flashlight off and stick to one side you hardly get attacked at all.

I think the flashlight should mostly be off where there literally is no Light. (Like caves or tunnels)
For Being outside where there is fog and maybe a few lights/Car lights that are still on. Turn the Flashlights off.

As for being noticed by the Infected, Yes the flashlight makes them notice you quicker, just like the witch for example. Hates flashlights and being Shot at and being appoarched.
For infected chaseing after you it's loud noises, Being bothered/Appoarched, Being shot once by a pistol or AR, or a Flashlight being shined on them.

Same here. I only turn it on when I'd need it, like IRL. Otherwise, it just feels like a giant "Eat at Joe's" sign to zombies. lol

Uhm, I thought it did startle the witch? O_o?

Because I actually praised the intro movie with sticking amazingly close to the gameplay. The only exception I ever saw, was the tank destroying the fire escape, since I've never seen a tank destroy one of those in-game.

But what do I know, I'ma nub. n_n'

I have it off most the time....but thats from playing versus mode.

As soon as i hear that tank music..lights off and crouch in a dark corner so my outline dissapears....i aint no fool :p
