Yeah, but I thought it'd be nice to have the gas station alert a horde of some sort.
I hope explosions have more of an impact on gameplay than pure aesthetics in the next one.
But to make a small point, simply because it's a survival horror doesn't mean it has to detract from all regular sense. A bridge collapsing alerts a horde, but a gas station doesn't. CROWS attract a horde!
This should do something.
Ya'know?

Well I would like to see more horde alerts like the car alarms in L4D2, though I don't know if a gas station should be one. After all, having the gas station blow up gives all the advantage to the Infected if it did spawn hordes.

Which is a good thing.
Most people destroy it as a pre-emptive tactic, so to stop Infected from taking advantage of a bad team. Your team would have to make the choice of trying to tip-toe around the easily explodable gas station, or alerting a horde.
It sounds sweet to me.

IIRC back in the time I played No Mercy the first few times before knowing that it could blow up I seem to always remember it exploding when you start the lift. Could be mistaken though.

I generally just shoot the gas station the first chance I get.
It's all the more fun when you take out a few SI hanging around there, in doing so though :D

mmm... it does make sense to alert a horde... but yeah probely for balance reasons because the lift also alerts the horde so having 2 alerts in like 1 place would be kinda... wierd i guess from a gameplay stand-point.

not exactly hard to avoid that horde. just camp in the room, explode, and stay in a corner...
