New Bug

So I was playing tonight and came across a bug. After having a discussion while playing I was no longer able to speak. Disconnecting and reconnecting seems to have fixed the problem but then apparently I was banned for not being a teamplayer. Hopefully this was an error, because communication is the core to being a teamplayer and I should not be punished because I was bugged and unable to communicate. I look forward to this being reversed.

During the course of the discussion I was asked to assemble a guidelines for regulations on love on the servers. I asked several time for any other regulatory documents to cross-reference and refer to while creating my draft and hope that you can point me to the pertant documents in this thread also. But I can create another one if it would be easier for those involved.

#1. Why do you think you got banned?
I don't know that seems like a question you would ask the person who banned me. The stated reason said not a team player which seems like a catch all "because we said so" option. I was exhibiting a mastery of one of the core tenants of teamplay: communication. Though if the quest is more of the metaphysical maybe it was my destiny. Stars exploded and galaxies collided from the Swril of matter that would become this place and myself and the infinite probability of the eternity of the universe rolled the dice and this is what came up

#2. What server were you on? What admin do you believe banned you? What admins were there playing?

#3. Why should you be unbanned?
Because I was being a team player and communicating.

#4. A written statement that you will refrain from doing anything that will get you banned again.
Not sure what to say here. Because if I was banned for communicating I certainly can't say in good faith that I won't do it again. Because then I wouldn't be a good team player.

Also I still need links and such to draft up the Romance on the Server guidelines you lack. Thank you for your time and I look forward to prosperous relationship .

Thanks for posting in the proper format. Unnecessary poetic language aside....

While I was not your banning admin, I was on the server at the time. I was the one who warned you and the other fellow to "cut the chit-chat," when you were busy talking about Romance on the Server or whatever it was. I recall other players telling you to stop typing/"clogging the chat," along with several people (at least on Blu) who were complaining about you (well, you and Lud) which gave me, an admin on BLU, the impression that you were taking your time to type but not to play. Hence, you were warned, end of story for that.

The other guy, Lud, was more of a smartass and so he was muted. This is something you recognized. From the HLStatsX chat log:

I said "How are we supposed to play the game without communication? ".
I said "With lud muted we are losing".

So don't be cute and try to pretend that there was some sort of a bug that affected you and got you banned (which you mentioned you would do, also in chat). You were muted just the same as he was, for not listening and being obnoxious. And for the record, the default Reason provided when someone is kicked or banned is "Not being a teamplayer," so even if you felt like you were helping your team in some fashion, you'd get that message anyway.

As for your ban, again, I was not your banning admin, but you were bothering people on the server and were warned, and didn't stop. The other admin, who did ban you (and was actually on your team), took over, warned/punished you in the form of a Mute. As far as I know, you still didn't take the hint after blowing your couple of chances, and the other admin banned you. If you're lucky it was only a temporary ban and you'll be able to reconnect soon.

Either way, he should be here shortly to discuss with you, and, if necessary, put up an unban vote when your discussion is over.

Lud had been clogging up the chat and was muted.

Despite all of the warnings that went on, you continued to clog up the chat and were muted. You then left the game and reentered to dodge the mute. Upon your return, I banned you.

You never once used your mic to communicate something that was going on that would help your teammate (e.g. Heavy, watch out spy! or There's an SG on the point!). If you ever used the chat to communicate instead of just clogging it up, I never noticed.

Comments like the following after Lud was muted did not help your case either.

Do you have anything else to say?

I hadn't seen that I was muted and assumed it was a bug. There was too much chat going by to notice a mute message, it might be something you want to look into regulating so things like this don't happen. Perhaps a bolded bullet point in a sticky somewhere on a forums?

I don't use voice chat so it is no a surprise you never heard me being a teamplayer but did communicate extensively through chat.

Good job on muting lud though. He was a good team player but his chat was irreverent and annoying. It distracted from the game.

He was spamming the chat, and neither was communicating anything relevant to the game in chat, Commander.

Don't get me wrong, biggfoo, I appreciate idle chatter and some good smack talk every now and then, but when the action starts up and an admin tells you over god chat to drop the spam, you stop the spam. When your teammates ask you to stop the spam beforehand, you stop it double time. If your teammates ask you to stop, I shouldn't even have to use god chat. Going against the wishes of your teammates is hardly the mark of a team player.

Quite the frankly, the only reason neither of you were banned sooner was because DancingCorpse had been instigating some conflict. After multiple admin warnings though and snide comments towards the admins, you earned a ban. Lud was not banned since he left.

If you have anything else to say, biggfoo, speak your piece. Otherwise, I'll get your vote up for you tomorrow.

It sounds as if you were disrupting the players and the game play of the server...

Is this true or not?

Were you communicating anything that was game related or using our game server as your own personal chat messenger?

Just what were you typing and how did it relate to communicating with the players in game to get the objectives accomplished or was it spam?
