02-25-07, 12:21 AM #1Wow... I just got Banned?!
Well first off let me start off by saying I am in total disbelief. I just got banned without any warning. I was not saying anything out of order, and I was playing with my team.
1. Why do you think you got banned?
We were playing one map just before office where there was a comment made about the bomb not being on the roof and it was directed at me. I was covering my team stright up... one of the admins didn't like that I suppose... none the less I didn't think much of it at the time. I have not been singled out before and I understood from previous posts on here that most people thought I was a good player.
In any case then Office came up. I was on CT and the T's kept rushing out the garage area. My teams strategy was to face the rush and hold the garage. I also knew that there would be a couple of T's trying to flank us. So I held up (not very long mind you) to meet them. I happened to win the round for my team BAM kicked and banned without warning. I don't know wether the admin is 15 years old or 45 but that was a pure adolecent response from someone that had their Post Tosties pissed in or something.
2. What admin do you believe banned you? What admins were there playing?
[ﻩﺩﻨﺸﻜ]SmokenSherriff possibly. I honestly don't know who most of the admins are, and I cannot say with any real sureness who it might have been.
3. Why should you be unbanned?
I am shocked I am banned to begin with. To my knowledge I have not been banned anywhere before, ever. I enjoy playing on TTP very much. Furthermore, I enjoy everything it strives to achieve and the commerodity of its "regulars" and clan members alike. TTP is generally competitive, friendly, and fun. Overall, day to day, this is one of the absolute best servers out there, bar none. And as my previous posts should make evident I strive to partake in said community by being the best [team]player that I can be.
4. A written statement that you will refrain from doing anything that will get you banned again.
I, Gideon hereby declare that I will, to the best of my ability, refrain from any activity that will get me banned. In addition, once this matter has been sorted out I have no further intention of bringing it back into the game.
5. If your ban is sustained, you have will have to wait at least 30 days before any additional request to be "unbanned" can be accepted.
I understand.
Texas ...TeamPlayers... is really trying to be a server/game place about fairness, working together, and being a team.
The above statement is something I believe.
In closing, many of you should know that I have said thanks to the admins before. I know that there are some admins that work hard to make the server a great place to play - it is much appreciated...
If I actually did someting wrong then my appologies. I have enjoyed playing with you all, and I had even begun to make a few friends. Whatever the outcome... peace gentlemen.

Good Morning - It is a new day. .:D
As I have had some more time to think about this I have come to suspect that this must have occurred with an admin(s) that must not be too familiar with me. I didn't recognise very many of the people that were on last night. Aside from all the possible variables I just wonder if this is one of them.
I usually try to support my team as best as I can. That's why I play Medic in BF2 more than anything else. When it comes to getting a bomb defusal and three points I am much more likely to be one of the guys trying to provide you the cover instead of shooting at you so I can disrupt your defusal and snag your points. That is unless I happen to get to the bomb first - then I expect the same courtesy. I hate it when I see teammates shooting at the CT defusing the bomb just trying to disrupt him. We've even lost of few rounds to that asshat behavior.
I could be way off base - as no one could've been more shocked at my being banned than myself. In any case it will be nice to have all of this sorted out.

Wow... I just got Banned?!
Gideon, this is an excellent post and we appreciate your professionalism. I was the admin on at the time who banned you for suspicion of wall hacking. In addition we have learned that you are also playing at TDR. As a TTP reg with over 60 hours on the servers you should know that playing over at TDR, a community made up of banned TTP players and former disgruntled admins is a conflict of interest and certainly doesn't make you look any more innocent.
Your vote is in progress and the results will be posted in this thread as soon as possible.

I stopped in a took a peak at this last night and saw that my ban had been overturned and that I would be able to get back on today. Also, I was going to make a "thank you" post but the thread had been locked so I was thinking I would send PM to Bueller to say such just now. However, upon stopping in just now I notice that the thread has been edited and revised with this new information. I will address this new information in just a momment, but first allow me to say, at least in part, what I had intended.
Now looking back in hind sight I can see how you may have thought I was wall hacking, but I would have never guessed that was my reason for ban at the time. In thinking back I was having a very awesome round, and when I instinctivly held up for the Terrorists that were trying to flank us it could have "appeared" that I knew they were coming by seeing through the walls. I guess in a way I did know they were coming... it was instinct and a lucky guess. Let me say I have never even endulged the idea of hacking CS:S much less actually doing it. Hackers ruin the game for myself and everyone else. I am glad that you guys work hard to weed them out, but I assure you I am not one of them and my dislike for them would at least match your own.
Now about TDR... I actually live in Fort Worth, TX so I wanted to find some TX servers to play on naturally. So, I discovered both the TTP and the TDR servers at the same time and added them both to my favorites list - not having any partiality for one over the other. For no other reason than I liked the teamplay, reagulars, and consistensy on TTP much more than TDR did I start playing here 90% of the time. In fact the only time I played over at TDR is when I was unable to connect to TTP. Furthermore, I had no knowledge whatsoever that there was any connection between the two. It was only in the last couple of days since this ban that I have been reading through the forums that I had begun to piece it together. I was also going to make a post here about getting further clarification on the matter so that I did not accidently become guilty by association with the folks over at TDR. If I need to not ever step foot on the TDR server again that's absolutely fine with me guys. I had been playing over there thse last couple of day even... specifically because I was waiting on this matter to be resolved. Seems I have had a real string of bad luck, hehe.
In any case I hope that this goes a long way in clearing up any further confusion on the matter. Please allow me to anwer any additional questions that you may have. I know this is just a game, but even still this is my name we are talking about, and I would like to have it cleared up. Just as you adamantly strive to protect they way people think of TTP, I want to also make every possible effort to clear my name in this unsual set of circumstances I have found myself in.
Furthermore, I would not even mind getting on TeamSpeak with the admins to further discuss anything still needing clarification. Thanks for your time and effort guys. PEACE. /salute

Your ban have been overturned. We had a glitch in the voting machine. Like Al Gore in Florida 2004 you ended up with negative votes. But Bueller kicked it and we are good. You will be able to rejoin the server tomorrow.

I hope they hear me ordering my pizza
" Cisco confirms ability to spy on remote calls with VoIP"
nice now that more and more folks are on VoIP because of the cheap prices thrown at us over the past few years - big brother can listen in even MORE easily than before -
another example of cooperation between the government and corporations that result in less freedom and further evisceration of the Bill of Rights.

Did you ever live under the delusion that any form of information sent over the internet that you had not personally encrypted was somehow even remotely secure?
Though that said I think you've got the wrong end of the stick, hackers pointed out that the Cisco VoIP phones had a certain security vulnerability under a certain setup rather than Cisco going 'yoo hoo mr government man come look at our groovy calls.' Frankly considering the setup would have to be changed from the default for it to work anyway, at least according to this:
Cisco Unified IP Phone Remote Eavesdropping [Products & Services] - Cisco Systems
It doesn't strike me as a great risk.

I hope they hear me ordering my pizza
I remember back in the day (like 1992) when I bought a scanner that would allow me to listen to peoples cordless phone conversations.
