was just playing in server and someone on the t's accused someone on my team of ghosting and i said

"im ghosting..."
"...ON MY 60HZ MONITOR"

and then admin says "really?"

"no... it was a pun, about home theater stuff" (i sell tvs) - alot of tvs/lcds "ghost" if their refresh is too low.

.. banned.

geez guys it was all in good spirits, didnt realize it would be taken (so) seriously.

1) got banned for joking about hacking

2) css top5. wishbear was (a) admin.

3) im a teamplayer and dont cause trouble, I didnt know this was a rule violation. I wont joke about cheating again

I do remember you making this joke, but I did not ban you for it. I warned you (and everyone) for joking about hacks.
As I am not your banning admin, I can't do anything for you as far as getting you unbanned. But as I am mentioned in your post, I felt obligated to let you know what was going on. I have contacted the admin who executed the ban, and he will be with you soon.

Hi Danson, I'm your banning admin. Yes you are correct I banned you for saying that you where ghosting. I take this kind of behavior very serious here at TPG and it will not be tolerated by anyone. All I have to say is that I didnt intend to give anyone the impression I was cheating, it was just a pun on what that other guy was saying. I thought it was pretty clear i was not trying to lead anyone on or start any sort of drama. I don't think this ban really compares well to my other ban because that one was a blatant rule violation, and I regret that a ton, and while i regret saying what I did the other night, I was unaware of this "unspoken" rule, or I guess I have never been online when this has ever been an issue before.

I think my real crime here is just trying too hard to be a a funny guy, and I really only talk around like that when the server (my team at least) seems to be having a pretty good time. I hope the rest of the admins can see I mean no harm to TPG. I play often with many of you, always following calls, trying to get the new guys in zone of how cs is played here, and just all around being a positive member here. If my judgement is so poor that keeping to myself is the only way I can get by, Im ok with that too, just hoping to be able to jump back into the fray with you guys.

I know that only people that have relevant information to the ban are supposed to post on these threads, so I hope that this is relevant (and if you think that it isn't please don't yell at me, I had good intentions).

All that I have to add is that I was on the server at the time that this happened. I read Taylor Swift's (danson's) joke and thought that is was a corny, nerdy, pun and only that.

I will say that, at the time that he made the joke, alot of people on T (i was T, he was CT) where yelling (half jokingly) that someone on CT was hacking b/c they seemed to know exactly what we where doing all the time. So, his 2 comments of "I'm ghosting" and "...on my 60hz monitor" where separated by a few lines of people crying about "OMG HAX" and "HOW THE "F" DID THEY KNOW WHERE WE WHERE GOING?!?!?!!?", so it might not have been immediately understood as a joke.

The last relevant piece of information that I can add is that I've spent many a night playing with Taylor/ danson, and I've never thought of him as anything other than a teamplayer and good guy. Yeah, he likes to joke around, but I've never known him to make the kind of douche bag "Yeah I'm such a hacker" type jokes that the rule that got him banned was intended to prevent.

So, in summary, my take on this (as someone who's played with him before, and was there at the time of the ban) is that yes, Taylor is a funny reg that makes some corny and nerdy jokes (like most of us do), but is certainly not an intentional rule breaker or douche.
...and I will be sad if i don't ever see his lame jokes or lame shooting-me-in-the-face on the server again.

it's not possible to list all rules, in all possible circumstances. TPG places the burden on the players to understand, and interact with eachother as common, decent people would in society.

You don't get on a subway and shout "gun", you don't scream "fire" in a theater, you don't make bomb jokes to TSA guards at the airport, and you don't talk about cheating in game servers, or in gaming communities.

It's common sense. And given 99.9% of players seem to know this, you should do some self inflection as to what is and isn't funny on a game server. But expecting us to change our rules....is somehow imagining that there must be servers out there where such things are ok and encouraged.

Maybe there are also servers out there that say it's ok to call people niggers and fags, or to discuss how and where you can buy heroin....but we could give a fuck less. Use your head, and you won't get banned. Plain and simple.
