Banned in BF2 server yesterday

My username in BF2 is UbiquitousLOL. I was banned yesterday afternoon for "impersonating an admin". Although I never said I was admin, I did give an authoritative demand to some guy trying to force tk while I was taking off in my jet so he would get out of the way (admittedly trying to make him think I had the power to ban him). It just gets very frustrating when I give people sufficient time to get out of the way of a jet and they don't and I have to sit there asking them to move. The guy had placed c4 all around the jet area too. So something I've done in the past (with much better success than asking nicely) is pretend I'm an admin so they'll move. This isn't anything specific to your server and I meant no disrespect by doing it, it's just something I've learned works a lot of the time (the guy moved).

I'm not going to pretend what I did was justified, but I do promise that if I'm let back on your servers that I won't do it again. I think I played with an admin yesterday and was having a good time bombing for him on daqing. He seemed pretty nice and I do like the server (I ping well and the map rotation is great) so I just want to ask humbly to have the ban lifted.

I'm not entirely sure what admin banned me (I really can't remember who was on at the time) nor do I think it matters much. However, if my ban is lifted I would definitely like to know who the admins are so I can ask them to maybe take action against people trying to force TK in the future.

we don't list who the admins are, just for this purpose. Never assume we aren't there, don't see you, or aren't listening. Doing so is what got you banned.

Would you say "I'm an admin" in front of those you KNOW are admins?

Of course not. It's all about probability. I bet an admin wasn't there based on past experience (i.e. I've seen numerous asshats on the server who do stuff that I'd consider far worse than what I did who weren't even banned, kicked, or warned). But the logic of why I "assumed" an admin wasn't there is somewhat of a moot topic. I've promised not to pretend to have power (that I don't) to counter force TKers again. That's what I'm trying to get across.

Two other things, are you sure that you weren't aware of an admin on the server at the time? And are you sure that an admin didn't 'Warn' you for forcing teamkills when others on the server complained about you? I think there might be more to this situation than is being represented here.

Ok I'm basically restating what I've already stated previously, just in a numbered format.

1. I got banned for "impersonating an admin". This is what the ban message said prior to be banned, along with "report to the forums".

2. I don't know what admin banned me. I don't remember the names of the people I was playing with at the time except for a particularly good jet pilot named Stun_gun (or something like that).

3. I should be unbanned because despite getting occasionally frustrated, I do feel that I'm a good player who is respectful most of the time.

4. "I'm not going to pretend what I did was justified, but I do promise that if I'm let back on your servers that I won't do it again."

5. N/A

The only incident I can think of where someone "complained" of me was maps earlier on operation clean sweep where a guy TKed me for (get ready for this) an FAV. He killed me with his shotgun as I was driving off. Then, later a similar thing happened but apparently he could not hit me with his shotgun, so he tried pistoling me. He managed to get me down to very low health, at which point I found a med pack. But then I just drove off away from him as he "complained" about my forcing TKs (which was totally false). I'm not sure if you can see in logs what weapon someone TKed another with, but if you can, it should definitely show that he killed me with a shotgun. (Note it might help some admins to get custom localization files so they can see this in game). Unfortunately, I don't remember the guy's name (he had a clan tag I believe though). That's the only incident I can think of. There are times where I may get run over by someone where it is entirely their fault, for which I might punish. But there are also times where it may be my fault for not looking, but I most assuredly forgive them for it. To my knowledge, I was never warned for forcing TKs, and if I was, I shouldn't have been. Admittedly, I do get frustrated at certain things in BF2 (like when someone intentionally TKs me or when someone who gets in my chopper doesn't even know how to use TV missles) but these cases of frustration are usually very short lived and relatively harmless.

You are being called out by another player who was on the server for several maps before without others complaining about him TeamKilling or Forcing Teamkills. As an Admin we understand 'teamkills' happen, but what bothers me here is your lack of in-game awareness. Your rank shows that you have been around the game for a long time. You should be very aware of what's going on. One would think, with your time in game and on servers that you would understand that acting as something other than what you are can have dire consequences. Well, i'm sure that how you respond to these statements will have a big determining factor in how the other admins view your unban request. Regardless, i'll initiate an unban request in the admin forums. Your unban vote will start today 6 April 07, and will conclude on 9 April 07.
